I made my the wedding rings for my own wedding and so can you?
Are you an alternative couple who would like wedding rings with a personal touch-then this course is for you.
You can make your own ring or make each others- either way, the amount of work you out into your rings will seal your love into every molecule of the metal.
This is a private 4 part course for couples, anyone and everyone is welcome.
We can arrange when the classes run and they can either run every week or even every two weeks.
(Please note the course price is for tuition and the sample rings- you will need to pay for the final metal cost by gram plus GST and any embellishments such as engraving or stones) The overall price at cost equals out to around the same price as buying two rings at retail cost but you get the opportunity to make them yourselves. If you have any questions regarding prices or times available to book in, please shoot us an e mail.
In this course you will do the following:
Week 1: Learn to carve rings from wax and to create rings using different waxes, discuss and get together the final ideas for your rings, I will take your carving to be cast in silver ( as this is a practice piece)
Week 2: Learn to finish off your rings to a professional standard and to apply different finishes. With the skills that you have learnt so far, discuss and finalise the final design of your wedding bands.
Week 3: Carve or create your final ring in wax. I will take your final piece in casting in your desired choice of metal at an Industry cost price plus GST.
Week 4: Finish off your ring to a professional standard.
I will discuss as you go along the design of the final ring and we will help you. If you would like any stones setting or complicated engraving that can arranged by me on the final piece at an extra cost.
Your course will be tutored by myself, Eran Naylor, owner and resident jeweller at Studio Kingfisher. I teach a wax class every couple of months in a similar method to groups of up to six students at a time. This course is held in our lovely studio and I am a confident, passionate and enthusiastic teacher who will go the extra step to help you create your perfect rings.
If you would like to read reviews my teaching please go to the Studio Kingfisher reviews. This is a private class just for two people and therefore allow us to really concentrate on a purposeful design and texture for your rings.
Your final rings will come in beautiful black velvet boxes for you to use on the big day.
Using the ancient method of lost wax casting, in this four-class course you will learn to carve wax rings, embellish them and have them cast as well as master finishing and polishing techniques. The aim of this course is for you to come away with at least one finished ring, and either a finished second ring or one that you can finish at home.
For the first two classes, everyone will make the same style ring. This is to make sure you all pick up the same skills and finish one piece off. In the next two classes, you will concentrate on your own designs and creations. The first section will help you with inspiration for the second as you start to get a feel and idea of what can be done with wax.
Studio Kingfisher will provide all materials needed, as well as list of where you can purchase this equipment for home use. We will take your pieces to an external casting house for you, and encourage you to try to take your second piece to see how it works and build relationships (though we can take it for you). You will need to pay for all castings plus GST. We only cast in sterling silver on this course to keep your costs down.
This course can hold up to eight (8) students which will mean that you get enough personal attention from the teacher. You need to be over sixteen (16) to attend this class, have good eyesight, or bring glasses with you and have fairly steady hands. You need to have hair tied back, wear sensible clothing and bring an apron as you may get covered in a fair amount of wax shavings. You do not need to have any previous jewellery making experience - this course is suitable for complete beginners.
Please note this class fee is $420 but we put on a limited amount of early bird tickets at $380- so grab them whilst you can.
You can choose to pay for this class in full or select Afterpay to pay in instalments from a credit card at the checkout.
You may also choose to buy a gift voucher to gift to someone for this class from our product drop- down menu on the front page.
